A stated or implied agreement from a carrier, a carrier´s agent, or other bailee that the referenced goods were free of obvious damage or shortage at time they were handed over transportation. The resulting transport document or warehouse receipt will be “clean”, that is, not bearing a “foul” notation. All transport documents without expressed foul notations are considered to be clean. This statement is the opposite to apparent damage.
