Negotiation tips
- The country can be divided into four trade areas: Tel Aviv and its area of influence known as Gush Dan, Jerusalem, the north (Haifa) and the south (Beer Sheva).
- The work of commercial agents is useful, since it provides the foreign supplier with contact to local manufacturers and distributors. Nevertheless, there are wholesalers and distributors who import directly. Generally, these companies cover the whole territory.
- The Israeli idea of business is very close to capitalist values, learnt secularly in sectors like banking or jewellery, where the idea of profit, productivity or return is clearly understood.

Etiquette tips
- The usual form of greeting is shaking hands when you introduce yourself and when you leave. You must remember that Orthodox Jews do not shake a woman’s hand. When a certain degree of familiarity has been reached, they will give you a pat on the back.
